Sussex, Falls Renew Rivalry Friday

The Indians look to remain undefeated Friday as they take on their cross-town rivals.

The fact that Menomonee Falls goes into Friday's matchup undefeated is just one more storyline for the Menomonee Falls and Sussex rivalry.

The Indians (4-0, 2-0 Greater Metro) will travel to Hamilton High School at 7 p.m. Friday to take on the Chargers (2-2, 1-1 Greater Metro). The Indians pulled out a 24-21 at Schumann Stadium in last year's matchup, which didn't go without controversy.

We all remember the student, who was disciplined, who planted a Sussex flag at the 50-yard line and "gestured" to the crowd during the opening ceremonies.

The Indians are led by Christian Almonte with 491 yards rushing. The Indians have manufactured just over 35 points a game. The Chargers are led by bruising running back Drew Patterson, who has amassed 513 yards rushing. The Chargers are average 33.8 points per game.

Hamilton high School is in Lisbon. Check a map!Sussex has 2 schools Woodside and Maple Ave. all other schools are in Lisbon or Menomonee Falls [Marcy School}

Why Lisbon is not annexed into Sussex yet is beyond me. Also, Butler should be snatched by Menomonee Falls and Colgate should be snatched by Germantown. No matter, where ever their high school lies, the Chargers suck.

Until a few years ago, the students and school referred to themseleves as Sussex Hamilton. It wasn't until Dr Cooke became superintendent that they started going by the name Hamilton. The high school is located in the town of Lisbon

It's bad that they dropped Sussex because there's a Hamilton on the south side of Milwaukee also, and it's not too pleasant any more.

Nuitari, Lisbon became a Town in the 1800's at one time Menomonee Falls Brookfield and Pewaukee were a part of Lisbon. Lisbon has kept the rural atmosphere. If we would be come part of Sussex our taxes would rise! Butler just celebrated 100 years much older than Menomonee Falls and also a small village where everyone knows you! I also attended Hamilton and refer to the school teams as the Hamilton Chargers.

Actually Menomonee Falls is 121 years old and 33 square miles of paradise if you ask me. I believe you're right about a large part of it being part from Lisbon, perhaps as early as the 50s.

I went to MFHS for 4 years and never once did I call Sussex Hamilton just Hamilton. I always called it sussex. If someone told me we were playing Hamilton I always assumed we were playing Milwaukee Hamilton. If someone told me we were playing Sussex on friday I knew exactly what they were talking about. You never hear anyone refer to it as Hamilton. Everyone I know calls it Sussex...even my friends that go there call it Sussex.
