Falls Youth Wrestlers Place at State Tournament

Wrestler, Aaron Daly, wins four matches March 26 before falling 10-6 to Nolan Shea of Milton in the third-place match.

Six Menomonee Falls youth wrestlers competed at the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation State Championships held March 25 through March 26 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. 

Placing at the tournament were Billy Holz, fifth place, 110 pounds; Aaron Daly, fourth place, 90 pounds; Jerott Holz, second place, 110 pounds; and Austin Lasanske, fifth place, 67 pounds.  Also competing at the tournament were Tyler Gill, 63 pounds and Joseph Lynch, 54 pounds.  Wrestlers competed in 16-man brackets within age based weight classes.  These wrestlers qualified for the tournament at regional competitions held March 12.

Billy Holz lost a close quarterfinal match to eventual runner-up Josh Bird of Burlington.  Billy moved through the consolation bracket and defeated Sam Rathburn of Bayport by a major decision 14-1 to place fifth within his bracket.

Aaron Daly won four matches on Saturday before falling 10-6 to Nolan Shea of Milton in the third-place match.

Jerott Holz moved into the championship match by defeating Seth Vosters of Freedom 4-2 in the semi-finals match.  In the championship match Jerott lost 2-0 to Justin Benitez of Amery.

Austin Lasanske fell short 5-3 in a consolation semi-final match to Spencer Rahn of Hartford.    Austin then moved on to defeat Travis Berryman of Delavan-Darian 4-0 to place fifth within his bracket.

Tyler Gill qualified for his first trip to the tournament this year.  Tyler was injured in his first match Saturday against Danny Pittz of Mineral Point and was not able to continue in the tournament.

Also making his first trip to the state tournament was first year wrestler Joseph Lynch.  Joe fell short against Nathan Rein of Stoughton in the consolation bracket to end his day.
