Falls' Kyle French Named an Academic All-Big Ten Athlete

French scored 35 points in five games as a kicker with the Wisconsin Badgers this season.

Menomonee Falls graduate Kyle French was recognized as an Academic All-Big Ten student-athlete last week.

French is a 2010 graduate of , and scored 35 points and appeared in seven games in his second season as a place kicker for the Wisconsin Badgers football team this season, according to UWBadgers.com. French assumed starting kicking duties early in the season while senior Philip Welch was sidelined with an injury.

French is headed to Pasadena, California for the second straight year to compete in the Rose Bowl Jan. 2 against Oregon.Β

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letter winners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. French was among 56 Wisconsin athletes selected for the honor.

While at , French made 19 of 34 field goals and 76 of 80 extra points. One scouting service, Rivals, ranked him as the third-most accurate high-school kicker in 2009.
