School Board Locks in Employee WRS Contribution

The next public hearing on the preliminary 2011-12 district budget is Aug. 8.

Teachers in the Menomonee Falls School District will contribute their mandatory payments into their Wisconsin Retirement System account when the first paycheck comes out next school year.

The School Board passed a resolution Monday to lock in the mandatory employee contribution. With the passage of 2011 Act 10, the district was required by law to pass the resolution. Employees in the district will contribute 5.8 percent of their accrued wages into the WRS.

A provision that was included with the passage of the state biennial budget also requires that this payment be made pretax.Β  The first pay period beginning in the 2011-12 school year will include the new provisions.
