Top Seat on Village and School Boards Up For Election in 2012

Thursday is the first day candidates can begin circulating nomination petitions.

The top seat on both the Village Board and the School Board in Menomonee Falls will be up for grabs during the April 2012 election. Will you step up and put your name on the ballot?

Thursday is the first day that interested candidates can begin circulating nomination papers in the village. Those signatures are due by 5 p.m. Jan. 3 to get on the ballot for the April 3 election.

The terms for both Village President Randy Newman and School Board President Kathy Shurilla expire this year. Menomonee Falls Patch has attempted to contact both, but neither has indicated whether they plan to seek another term on their respective boards.

Village Board and Municipal Judge

The Village President serves a three-year term beginning April 17, and receives a compensation of $7,500. Newman served as a trustee since 2005, and was elected in 2008.

Municipal Court Judge Bradley Matthiesen’s term also expires. The municipal judge serves a four-year term beginning May 1, and receives a compensation of  $28,000 annually.

School Board

On the School Board, the president serves a three-year term and receives a compensation of $5,500 annually. School Board member David Noshay’s term on the board expires in April, and board members receive a compensation of $5,000.

Those interested in running for either position on the School Board can pick up filing papers from the district office, which is also located in Village Hall.

If more than two candidates file for any open position for the 2012 election, a primary election will be held Feb. 21, 2012.
