Grassroots North Shore is planning to host an event urging Sen. Alberta Darling to hold in-district listening sessions on the state budget.

Residents of Senate District 8 will demonstrate outside Sen. Alberta Darling's (R-River Hills) offices in Menomonee Fallsl on Tuesday.

The political group Grassroots North Shore, which claims to be the progressive voice of North Shore communities, is organizing the demonstration. According to a release from Grass Roots, each participant in the demonstration will don a T-shirt with the name of their city of residence, and publicly request that Darling hold in-district listening sessions on the state budget proposal.

The group will gather at 10 a.m. Tuesday outside Darling’s district offices, N88W16621 Appleton Ave. According to the release, the four public budget hearings held by the Joint Finance Committee were not centrally located and were held at times that kept working people from attending.

“This isn’t an issue about being a Democrat of a Republican, it’s about the working people of Wisconsin having a chance to voice their input on the budget,” said Ginny Goode, a resident of District 8. “Senator Darling needs to accommodate her constituents by hosting in-district budget sessions.”

The event is expected to last about 30 minutes.
