Teens Arrested After Firing Guns at a Residence and Other 'Targets'

A group of teens were using a 20-gauge shotgun and a .35 caliber rifle to fire at mailboxes, a residence, signs and birdhouses. They had also been drinking and possessed marijuana.

A Menomonee Falls teen is in custody with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department in association with a shooting spree that included a residence, mailboxes, signs, and birdhouses. 

According to a news release from the sheriff's department: 

On Sunday morning,  deputies were sent to Kilbourne Road in the Town of Merton for a report of shots being fired. Deputies arrested a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male from the Town of Merton, a 15-year-old male from Menomonee Falls, a 15-year-old male from the Village of Hartland and a 23-year-old North Lake man.

All the individuals were at a bonfire at the home of the 15-year-old Town of Merton boy and were drinking. Reports indicate that sometime in the early morning hours four of the individuals began to walk around the area shooting at signs, mailboxes, birdhouses and a residence.  

The two weapons; a 20-gauge double-barrel shotgun and a .35 caliber rifle were owned by the 15-year-old Merton boy’s parent, both have been recovered.

The subjects are facing the following charges:  

  • Reckless endangering safety
  • Endangering safety by se of a dangerous weapon
  • Criminal damage to property
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Underage drinking
