Pop's Custard Burglar Caught on Camera

The Menomonee Falls Police Department is seeking information regarding the identity of this suspect.

The Menomonee Falls Police Department is searching for any tips that will lead to the arrest of a young white male who burglarized .

The man, who was caught on camera, appears to be a tall, lanky, young, white male whose face is concealed with what looks like a pillowcase. The man broke through the glass door at Pop’s at 3:46 a.m. on June 6.

“Judging by the way he came in there and did it, it’s very likely that he could act again and may have done this prior,” said MFPD Detective Chris Cybell. “We think he could probably come back to another businesses, and we want to stop him before that happens obviously.”

The man completely shattered the front door at Pop’s, and destroyed two registers. When all the smashing and thrashing was complete, the man ran from the scene just $30 richer. However, Pop’s Custard owner Sharon Whitman said the man caused about $4,000 in damage to the store.

“We had night vision, we have him on camera, and we are pursuing him. We hope some people can recognize him by the video,” Whitman said.

Whitman said most of the damage will be covered by insurance, but his actions disrupted business the following day. Whitman said the burglary was more of an annoyance than monetary loss.

“It’s just the aggravation of it all. We had tons of glass to clean up, he threw the cash registers on the floor,” Whitman said. “It was just silly. How much money do businesses leave in the register over night?”

Whitman it’s been 18 years since her store was burglarized, and that was in the former location. She said the thieves came in through the roof in that incident.

Business has been normal since the incident at Pop’s. The only remaining scar from the burglary is the plywood that is acting as a temporary door until a replacement is found.

Please call Detective Cybell at (262) 532-8733 if you have any information that could lead to the arrest of the man. Whitman added that she is offering a $100 reward to those that come forward with information that could lead to the identity of the man.
