Police Beat: Forgotten Knife Causes Trouble

Highlights from the Menomonee Falls police reports.

A 22-year-old man who said he forgot to take a 3-1/4-inch single-edged knife used for work from his pocket was arrested for a probation violation, according to Menomonee Falls police.

The man arrived with the knife in his pocket when reporting in at a  probation and parole agent's office at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Menomonee Falls Police Department, W156N8480 Pilgrim Rd.

The agent saw the knife in the man's front pant pocket, and the man was cooperative when the agent asked him to remove it. The man was arrested, booked for a probation violation and cited for possession of the knife.

  • Between 6 p.m. Jan. 14 and 11 a.m. Jan. 15, an unknown person damaged the window at Tri-City National Bank, N96W18221 County Line Rd. The damage appeared to be caused by a ¼-inch ball bearing. Police believe the case is linked to a recent rash of reports involving damage to property caused by a suspect wielding a wrist rocket and ball bearings.
  • Police responded to a pet-at-large call at 9:37 a.m. Jan. 17, in the N8000 block of University Drive. A 50-year-old Menomonee Falls man said a black and tan cat had been coming to his house for the past four days. Police took the cat into their possession and turned it over to the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), at 701 Northview Rd. in Waukesha.
  • Between 5:30 p.m. Jan. 15 and 7 a.m. Jan. 17, unknown suspects stole four wheel and tire sets, valued at $5,001.20, from two vehicles parked at the Gordie Boucher automobile dealership, N88W14300 Main St.
  • At 6:06 p.m. Jan. 16, an 18-year-old Menomonee Falls woman called police to report a 20-year-old Milwaukee man had threatened her and grabbed her, causing minor pain, at a home in the N5000 block of Sharptail Court.
  • Between 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Jan. 19, an unknown suspect smashed the rear windshield of a vehicle parked at the Kohl’s Credit Center, N54W13600 Woodale Dr. Nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle, but damage to the vehicle is estimated at $500. There were no witnesses, evidence or suspects.
  • A 29-year-old female Pick 'n Save employee was cited for theft after she stole $200 from her register and altered the computerized count at 7:17 p.m. Jan. 11 at the store at N95W18273 County Line Rd. The theft was captured on video surveillance.
  • An unknown person pumped $36.72 worth of gasoline into a Ford Focus and left without paying at 5:22 p.m. Jan. 20 at Woodman’s gas station, W124N8233 Highway 145.  An investigation revealed that the vehicle's license plates were stolen.
  • Between noon Jan. 17 and 1:26 p.m. Jan. 20, unknown suspects removed a 20-foot trailer, valued at $4,000, from the lot at Tom’s Trailers, N60W16780 Kohler Ln.
  • A 2- to 3-year-old male golden retriever was found running loose in the road at 12:44 p.m. Jan. 19 in the 17900 block of Menomonee Avenue.  The dog did not have a collar or identification tags, and was turned over to HAWS in Waukesha.
  • Police responded to two thefts from vehicles at 7:15 p.m. Jan. 23 in the employee parking area of Marcus Cinema, W180N9393 Premier Ln. The first vehicle was entered using a pry tool on the passenger side window. The vehicle was ransacked, but nothing was stolen. A second vehicle was unlocked, and a Rock Band video game controller, valued at $250, was stolen.
  • A 29-year-old Menomonee Falls man was arrested for domestic violence at 8:25 a.m. Jan. 23 in the W16700 block of Main Street. An argument over eviction with his 29-year-old wife became physical when he pushed her to the ground. The man was arrested, booked, posted bond and later released.
