Police Beat: $5,500 in Sunday Collections Disappear From Church

Incidents from the Menomonee Falls police reports.

With church donations , this is just a blow below the belt for one church in Menomonee Falls.

Sometime between 11 a.m. Sunday and 7:45 a.m. Monday, the Sunday collections from , N89W16297 Cleveland Ave., went missing. Approximately $5,500 vanished sometime between the collection and it being counted.

A field technician with the Menomonee Falls Police Department was sent to the scene. There were no signs of forced entry to the church.

According to the report, there is no indication that police have identified a suspect. However, it is almost certain a witness of a β€œhigher power” caught the criminal in the act.

  • A 26-year-old man was arrested and cited for his 2nd offense OWI at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Appleton Avenue and Garfield Drive. The man had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.17. He was originally pulled over because he failed to obey a sign, and his registration was expired.
  • A 24-year-old woman, who is six months pregnant, told police she was struck by her 27-year-old boyfriend at noon on Sept. 29 in a home on the W15000 block of Ridgeview Drive. The fight caused bleeding and pain for the woman. A witness called police with the initial report, but all involved had left the home before police arrived.
  • Sometime between Saturday and Sunday, six ditch wedges were stolen from the construction site at Cleveland Avenue and Pilgrim Road. The ditch wedges weigh approximately 50 pounds each, and have a combined value of $10,200. Neighbors reported the ditch wedges were targeted two separate times over the weekend. Witnesses said the first theft involved two 20- to 25-year-old males who fled in a black SUV. Neighbors also saw a 17- to 20-year-old male in a second incident. He fled in a red coupe.
  • A 20-year-old girl was attacked by her father at 8:20 p.m. Sunday at a home on the W1300 block of Fond Du Lac Ave. The man was arrested for domestic violence.
  • At 11:54 a.m. Sunday, a 35-year-old man was playing his music too loud on the N8000 block of Jefferson Avenue. He was first warned to turn it down. However, he shortly turned his music back up again, and was issued a municipal citation for disorderly conduct.
