Man Charged For Carrying Ruger Without Permit

A Milwaukee man faces a maximum sentence of nine months in jail, and a $10,000 for carrying a gun without a concealed carry permit.

A Milwaukee man is facing possible jail time after he was caught illegally armed during a traffic stop.

Kristian Byrd, 22, is charged with one count of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. Byrd faces a maximum sentence of nine months in jail, and a $10,000 fine if prosecuted to the fullest extent.

According to the criminal complaint:

A Menomonee Falls police officer stopped a vehicle driven by a female along Highway 41/45 on Dec. 11. The woman was driving 83 miles per hour on the highway, and Byrd was the passenger.

During the stop, the officer smelled burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle, and the female driver stated she had not smoked. Byrd told the officer he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day, and produced a paper cup with ice cubes, ashes, and green leafy material in on the bottom.

The officer did not find any contraband, and issued the driver a citation. Byrd had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, and the officer found a Ruger revolver in his waistband. Byrd did not possess a permit for the revolver.

Not the kind of guy I would be comfortable around knowing that he is carrying...If you are doing drugs...there is a reason to carry...but i wouldn't trust judiciary use of that firearm if needed...did he aquire the Ruger (nice firearm btw!) legally or illegally?...just curious...cuz I carry mine legally all the time...if a business posts that no firearms are allowed on the premesis...I take my business elsewhere...cuz the posting might as well say, "attention criminals! the people on this premesis are not armed for your convenience...please fell free to make all patrons a victim"...sad...very sad...

Seeing as almost half of the people in Wisconsin are doing this, and most people know this, I really do not see how this qualifies as news... Although MF does seem to be getting more than its far share of drug and gun arrests... perhaps that is something law enforcement might want to investigate?

Not the first time he's carried a concealed firearm according to WCCA.
