Falls Receives Over $400K in Transportation Aid from State

The village received its portion of roughly $80.5 million in April statewide transportation aid payments Monday.

Menomonee Falls received its spring transportation financial assistance from the state.

The village received a cut of roughly $80.5 million in aid distributed in April, Gov. Scott Walker announced Tuesday. Of that portion, Falls banked $52,960 for connecting highways, and $383,429 in general transportation aid. Β 

For calendar year 2013, local governments will share an estimated $416.6 million in reimbursements from the state transportation fund to build and maintain local roads and bridges.

Quarterly payments for municipalities are sent the first Monday in January, April, July and October. County payments are made in three installments, with 25 percent of the total annual payment on the first Monday in January; 50 percent on the first Monday in July; and 25 percent on the first Monday in October.

General Transportation Aids help defray the costs of constructing, maintaining, and operating roads and streets under local jurisdiction. Connecting Highway Aids reimburse municipalities for maintenance and traffic control of certain state highways within municipalities.

April payments were issued to 1,852 communities from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.Β
