Falls Pub & Grill Offers Casual, Northwoods Atmosphere

The former location of Rich's Steakhouse has been completely transformed, and is open for the big Packers game Saturday.

Menomonee Falls Packers fans have a new place to watch the big playoff matchup against the 49ers Saturday - and really all big sporting matchups into the future.

Falls Pub & Grill, N80W13003 Fond Du Lac Ave., opened last week to a packed house for the first round of the playoffs. Owners Robert Placke and Jenny Kleczka both know how to celebrate the green and gold tradition. Placke said they offer free wings and pizza at halftime, hold raffles, and have a host of other giveaways for every game.

“We had a great crowd for the Packer game last week. It fits with our great new sound system here for the games,” Placke said.

Placke and Kleczka opened Falls Pub in the former location of Rich’s Steakhouse. In just over two months, they completely renovated the interior and exterior of the business. The place even smells brand new.

"We've got a Northwoods, cabin atmosphere here," Placke said. "It's a laid back place where you can let your hair down."

Patrons will immediately notice the expansive outdoor concrete patio, complete with a wheelchair ramp, when they walk up to Falls Pub. Plans are in place to construct a heated smoking room in front of the bar as well. By spring, the parking lot will also be paved.

“We really want to turn this place completely around,” said Kleczka, who’s essentially the face of Falls Pub as the lead bartender. Placke is admittedly the behind-the-scenes guy cooking the food in the kitchen.

Falls Pub offers a traditional American pub menu with pizza, steak, burgers, fish fry, and prime rib. Items on the menu range from $7 for a sandwich to $18.95 for a 16-ounce prime rib. Specials include Taco Tuesdays, Wing Night, and the essential Friday Fish Fry.

Kleczka said they also offer a variety of drink specials, and Happy Hour is $1 off every drink from 4-7 p.m. daily. They also plan to host live music and karaoke.

Placke has logged 25 years in the bar and restaurant business. He currently is part-owner at Scott E’s pub in Greenfield.

“I opened up here because the location is great. I was impressed by how many people lived up and down this street,” Placke said. “We’ve also been impressed by how nice everyone is that stops in here.”

If you’re looking for a new place to enjoy your favorite sporting events, give Falls Pub a try. They are open Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m., and the kitchen closes at 10 p.m. From Friday through Sunday, Falls Pub is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and the kitchen closes at 10 p.m.

R U Kidding? Rich's was a dump and lost so much business because it was hit and miss and filthy inside. This place is a thousand times better. The place is all redone. Tonight is the first Friday open there, busy, busy, busy, had to wait for an hour for take out. Had delicious bloody mary's while we waited. Although, they got the orders wrong, I ordered 2 baked cod and my sister ordered an Italian beef for her husband who is in the hospital. It was typical of a new place just starting out. What we got was an Italian beef, and one baked cod and one battered fish. They were cold, but warmed up at home, the fish was great, the Italian beef I warmed in the microwave at my house on Power level 5 and it wasn't so bad and the fish fry was good. The coleslaw was delicious and so were the potato pancakes. I asked if they had applesauce for the pancakes and was told yes but got syrup. After they work out the kinks, it is going to be a real kick-a$$ place to eat. Go Falls Pub and Grill, we'll be going back, because it's got to be better, It just has to. We need another place to go in the Falls. Good luck to them!

We tried to get a table tonight. 1hr + wait!! Nice job. Still noisy inside with interesting table alignment and tight pinch points. My weather tech liners are full of lime stone dust from the lack of a parking lot. Yeah I know how much they (pkg lot) cost. We ended up at Fox & Hounds.

Indeed, a full hour plus wait, but the food was good and we met a bunch of interesting people while waiting. What a great change. The crowd thinned out pretty much by 8:00. We will go back again soon.

How are the prices? Rail and beer.

Prices are not bad. We had a 3 pc fish fry , a 2 pc fish fry, a specialty beer and a SC Old Fashion, the bill was $25. The food was good, a bit of a wait after we sat down, but it was their first Friday night. I'm sure all the bugs will get worked out.

Beer prices are good.

Wow the place looks great! Last Friday my husband and me ate here and the place was very busy has expected it would be.I had a hambuger and fries and hubby had walleye and fries,my hamburger was was over cook and the bun was black the fries were not good at all.My husband said his walleye was terrible but the wait staff was very nice and friendly.I think the place is going to get better over time they just have to work out the kinks like any new place has too.

My husband and I have been there 3 times since it opened. It looks great inside, you did a great job remodeling. Yes our shoes were covered in limestone yuck from the parking lot and yes my husband had to put our SUV in 4wheel drive because we were stuck in the parking lot. There is nothing that can be done with the parking lot until spring. Yes our food orders were wrong, but it was still good. We have known the previous owner Rich and his family for many years and they are all nice people. We are glad that Tammy is working there again, she does a great job. We have been hoping someone would buy it. Glad you did because we live just down the street. We are coming with our friends again this weekend and plan to come there often. Hope things continue to go well.

Jon Romasko February 08, 2013 at 03:39 PM

Phone number is not listed: 1(262)293-3101 for take out!

They are never open when I get off work second shift and drive by at 11:20 p.m. They should not advertise that they are open until 2 a.m. if they are not going to be

Tried twice and thought the same thing that they would get the kinks worked out but nada. Fish was not cooked and like hard rubber. Sat at bar prior to dinner for a bit, good thing I got my beer when I did because the bartender gal at some point just decided she wasn't gonna serve people anymore, a few walked out after obviously being acknowledged but was only gonna be served on her timeline, not there's. Would have been great "bar rescue" hidden camera footage. Is nice to see Tammy there, just seeing her in there bring back memories of all the good times with Rich and Patty!

Didn't someone else buy the place from Rich? Seems to me when we were there someone else owned it, but not for long and then it was closed again. I thought that they had put up the ramp and new deck, and had remodeled the inside.
