A.J.'s Live Hosting Grand Opening Next Week

Downtown's newest nightlife location will open next week, and dueling pianos are booked for the event. If you want a sneak peek though, the business is holding a soft opening from Thursday through Saturday.

It didn’t take long to fill the vacancy left behind by Angelo’s Café Vino. After just a few months turnaround, A.J.’s Live will hold its grand opening Nov. 21.

However, if you want a sneak peek at downtown’s newest bar, owner Bruce Russell said A.J.’s Live will open from 4 p.m. to roughly midnight Thursday through Saturday. Russell said customers should be aware that Thursday through Saturday are meant as practice for staff at the new business. It’s all preparation for the grand opening on Nov. 21.

Russell said they plan to use the new space for overflow crowds from his other business, A.J. O’Brady’s, during Tuesday burger nights and Friday fish fries. They also plan to convert the café portion of the building to a 60-person banquet hall.

Russell is investing thousands to install acoustic paneling in the bar – and music will be a key draw at A.J.’s Live. Russell said he’s booked dueling pianos for the grand opening celebration. On Nov. 24, A.J.’s Live also booked four performance groups for National Small Business Saturday.

Russell said they plan operate A.J.’s Live from 4-11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and from 4p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Russell said a scaled-down menu would be offered at A.J.’s Live.
