Optimists Set Date For Fishing Derby

Anglers ages three through 16 will compete for most fish caught and biggest fish at the derby in May.

It's not too early to mark your calendars for the annual Optimist Club Fishing Derby, which is set for next month.Β 

The Kids Fishing Derby will be held at from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at the Mill Pond shelter. The catch and release contest is free for all children ages 3 through 16 who reside or attend school in Menomonee Falls or outlying areas.

Children under nine must be accompanied by an adult, and no fishing license is required for children under 16. The Optimists ask participants to bring their own fishing equipment. A limited supply of bait will be provided by R.B. Enterprises.Β

Trophies will be awarded in five age divisions for the following:

  • Most Fish Caught
  • Longest Fish Caught

Food will be sold at the pavilion throughout the event, and all participants will receive a T-shirt.Β
