Neighborhood Watch Holding Police Memorial Service

The memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at John S. Taylor Park on Appleton Avenue.

The Menomonee Falls Neighborhood Watch plans to pay homage to the men and women in blue during a memorial ceremony Sunday. 

The memorial service will begain at 2 p.m. Sunday at John S. Taylor, Jr. Park, N87W16530 Appleton Ave. 

All residents are invited to join the Menomonee Falls Neighborhood Watch and Menomonee Falls Police Department in honoring these men, their families and all law enforcement personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities. Also to be remembered and honored will be all law enforcement personnel who continue to serve.

Police Officer John S. Taylor, Jr. died in the line of duty August 6, 1977 while serving with the MFPD. He was killed when a 17-year-old suspect broadsided his squad while being pursued by a Wisconsin State Trooper. To honor his service and memory, the park was named after him. Deputy Richard G. Parquette of the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office was a former MFPD officer. He was killed in the line of duty on September 10, 1996, while serving as a deputy. He is also honored and remembered at the service.
