Scott Feldt to Run for Wisconsin State Treasurer

JANESVILLE – On Monday Morning, Scott Feldt (R-Janesville) announced he will be running for Wisconsin State Treasurer in 2014 as a Republican.

Feldt, who currently serves as Deputy State Treasurer, said: “The people of Wisconsin need a State Treasurer who will be an independent financial watchdog, ensuring accountability in taxing and spending.  As State Treasurer my priorities will be maintaining accountability, increasing transparency, and safeguarding opportunity.”

During a video announcement issued by his campaign, Feldt said that he is opposed to the idea of eliminating the Office of State Treasurer.  Some individuals have advocated for eliminating the Treasurer’s Office.  “Do we want to give more power to bureaucrats? I don’t think so,” said the Republican candidate for State Treasurer.

Feldt will be running for an open seat vacated by incumbent Treasurer Kurt Schuller (R-Eden) who declined to run for another term in 2014.  He will face off against Democrat Dan Bohrod (D-Madison). Bohrod has worked as a financial analyst in both state and local governments.   If Bohrod and Schuller do not face opposition in a primary election, both candidates will face off in the general election scheduled on November 4th.
