Have a Few Laughs For a Good Cause with the Rotarians

Proceeds from the event will fund a humanitarian effort to build latrines in the struggling island nation of Haiti.

Later this month you can laugh the day away well helping a serious cause backed by the Menomonee Falls Rotary Club.

Falls Rotarians are sponsoring a "Laughs for Latrines" comedy show from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Radisson Hotel in Menomonee Falls. The event was organized to raise funds for a humanitarian program to build latrines for the citizens of Haiti, which is still reeling from the effects of a natural disaster.

The cost is $20.00 for lunch and ComedySportz will provide their unique blend of improvisational humor. To join in the fun, RSVP by Sept. 16 at www.menomoneefallsrotary.org  Just click on the Haiti Humanitarian Latrine Project and find your giving section.

You can also visit the fundraiser on Facebook  for more information.

Rotarian Duane Peterke has made the Haiti latrine project his humanitarian calling over the past few years. A properly constructed latrine helps prevent the spread of dysentery, creates job opportunities for locals, and waste buildup provides fertilizer for crops.

Peterke's goal is to build 12 latrines on an annual basis in the struggling island nation. Each unit costs roughly $700 in materials and labor.
