Tim Brooks who is the owner of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Menomonee Falls reviews the show offering a dancers perspective on the contestants

Week 8 and the end is in sight, who will take home the mirror ball trophy?

This was the week of the trio which involved including another Professional into the performance. There are just six couples left after Andy Dick's exit last week.

Foxtrotting tonight is Zendaya and Val. This performance showed a different more subtle side than Zendaya has displayed in previous weeks and was graceful light and had a stylish musicality. They had a wonderful frame which is essential to display the quality of the dancing.

Her trio Salsa was very fast, exciting and rhythmical and Zendaya was highlighted very well.

Bachelor Sean was tasked with dancing the Tango with Peta. The Tango requires just the right blend of toning then shouldn't spread into tension. The goal in any dance is to make it look easy which is achieved by not allowing the frame or posture to be affected. Sean was a little rough around the edges but he showed good characteristics and performed well.

His trio was a jazz theme where he was the magician. Unfortunately his footwork didn't disappear as they definitely needed more articulation.

Hoping to Waltz away with the Mirror Ball trophy is Jacoby Jones. This dance had good movement, musicality and energy. I would have liked to have seen a better, cleaner frame but Jacoby was soft in his movements and has polished some of the rough edges that has been noted in previous weeks in his dancing.

His trio dance was Paso Doble and showing Matador "like" arrogance along with strong lines and great presence.

Narrowly surviving elimination last week was Ingo and Kim. They were tasked this week with performing the Foxtrot and the intensity of rehearsal has take its toll. Despite this Ingo did a good job trying to channel his inner Fred Astaire. He showed a good frame and posture while having a softness in his feet. Good job!

His trio dance was Jive which was a fun number that looked good but not great as it was a little flat and didn't show the Jive bounce rhythm.

Country Singer Kellie Pickler was asked to perform the Viennese Waltz this week. This had a magical quality about it which captured the audience's attention. Improving her emotional performance from previous weeks was what Kellie had been challenged with and there was a definite improvement.

Their trio dance was Paso Doble and for me it was just fantastic. It had everything, drama, good dancing and a story but it didn't have as much drama as the judges who couldn't agree on whether they liked it or not.

Aly Raisman was up next with Mark and they danced the Argentine Tango. Stepping outside of her comfort zone was the hurdle that Aly achieved. This dance is all about passion and atmosphere and Aly did a good job. Her legs need more extension and she needs to point her feet more as the ladys legs are showcased in this dance.

Her trio dance was Jive which although well synchronized and very musical it lacked traditional Jive action as it looked more like Swing due to her foot action.
