PHOTOS: Firefighters Make It Two in a Row

The Menomonee Falls Fire Department broke a losing streak last year, and are now on a winning streak after winning the annual MFPD vs. MFFD softball game.

A heavy pre-game rain couldn't cool down the Menomonee Falls Fire Department Thursday night. And on the same night MFFD Fire Chief Jeffrey Hevey lifted the village burning ban, the firefighters' promptly set fire to their bats and coasted to an easy win over the police department.

The MFFD won the annual softball matchup against the MFPD 9-5 under the setting sun of opening night at Falls Fest in Village Park.

For the first five innings, the firefighters basically took the men and women in blue to the woodshed. In a sense, they smoked them. A trio of three-run innings put the firefighters up 9-0, and they were looking pretty comfortable. However, police officers made the game interesting in the final two innings and put 5 runs on the board.
