Simone Lee Selected for National Team Tryout

Lee, who played on the team last year, will again seek a spot on the U.S. youth national team to compete at the 2013 World Championships in Thailand.

Menomonee Falls High School junior, Simone Lee, was recently selected to tryout for the national girls youth volleyball team.

Lee, along with 27 other players from around the United States, will participate in a second tryout for a spot on the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Volleyball Team. Ultimately, the team will compete in the 2013 FIVB Youth World Championships from July 25 to Aug. 4 in Thailand.

The tryouts will take place from June 13-16 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The roster would then be pared down to 12 athletes.

Lee also plays club volleyball with Club Fusion in Marengo, IL. Last year, Lee played an instrumental role on the national team, and helped lead the squad to a 2012 Continental Championship crown in Mexico. Last year’s victory sealed a spot for the United States at the upcoming World Championship.

Lee, a 6-foot, 1-inch outside hitter, has verbally committed to play volleyball at Penn State University after graduating in 2014.
