Indians Rebound from Tough Loss to Defeat West Allis Central
Falls improves to 4-1 with home victory as coach pulls starters.
What Menomonee Falls needed from their letdown in a was a turnaround win Friday, also at home.
Their 28-12 win over West Allis Central put the Indians back on track.
“I wanted to see how we responded after last week,” Falls coach John Baker said. “We really didn’t play well. I was really happy of how we came out and played the first half of this football game. Our guys really got after it and responded well.”

The win was crucial for Falls (4-1 overall, 2-1 Greater Metro Conference) because they will have two challenging road games at rival Sussex Hamilton and Milwaukee Marquette.
“We wanted to get back at it after a tough loss to Brook East,” Falls quarterback Brett Krause said.

The Indians got on the scoreboard in the first quarter, going six plays and crossing the end zone on Justin Johnson’s 4-yard touchdown run to give Falls a 7-0 lead at the 8:47 mark.
On their next possession, the Indians went 65 yards in 13 plays. Krause ran on a bootleg play to the end zone for the team’s second TD and give Falls a 14-0 advantage.
An interception by Falls’ Zach Weyenberg set up the third score. Johnson got his second TD on a 14-yard run with 2:08 left in the quarter for a 21-0 lead.
With 1:32 remaining in the first half, Krause hit Johnson on a 21-yard pass for Johnson’s third TD. The Indians led at halftime, 28-0.
Falls led by four touchdowns until the fourth quarter, when Baker took some of his defensive starters out the game. Their conservative play allowed the Bulldogs (2-3, 1-2) to avoid the shutout.
Central scored two touchdowns in a span of less than three minutes. Their first score was a 15-yard pass from quarterback Dakota Behrs to junior receiver Tre Nowaczynski with 4:57 left in the game. They fumbled the snap on the extra point kick, and trailed Falls, 28-6.
With 2:07 left, Behrs hit Brian Hopp in the end zone for 17 yards and failed on the two-point conversion attempt. Baker put his starters back in to prevent further damage.
“We were trying to rotate,” he said, “and just give some kids some other time and check some other positions out. You don’t want it to get out of control and then it gets goofy on you. That was pretty much why we made the transition (to put starters back in).”
For Central, the scoring came a little too late.
“The big key was our quarterback missed a lot of open people in the first quarter,” Central coach Dax Rodriguez said. “It was only his second game ever.”
Rajee Vasser of Falls was the game’s leading rusher with 66 yards. Troy Brown led Central with 50 yards. Krause was 9-for-14 passing for 112 yards with a rushing and passing TD. Behrs completed 13 of 27 passes for 178 yards, and two TDs and two interceptions.
