Indians Begin Pursuit of State Title Friday

The Greater Metro Conference baseball champs will open their tournament run at 5 p.m. Friday and Trenary Field against the Slinger Owls.

The Greater Metro Conference champions will take to the baseball diamond Friday to begin the team’s journey toward a state title.

The Indians (26-4, 17-3 Greater Metro) earned their eighth GMC title after defeating conference foe Marquette University School 5-1 on July 2.  The Indians earned the top seed and a first round bye in the Cedarburg bracket of the WIAA tournament. They will play Slinger at 5 p.m. Friday on Trenary Field in a regional final matchup.

The Indians are led by seniors, Troy Kenkel, Joel Zyhowski, Nick Mandella, Cole Morris, Ryan Bowe and Paul Fitzgerald.

Slinger (13-16, 7-11 North Shore) is coming off a 4-2 victory over Whitefish Bay on Tuesday in the opening round of the tournament.
