Girls Rugby Team Wins State Title

After dominating all year, the team finishes the season the best way possible.

The Menomonee Falls girls rugby team capped off a perfect season after defeating the Oak Creek Knights 8-0 Sunday to take home the team’s first Division II State Championship title in its three year history.

The conditions were wet, cold, and windy Sunday at Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield, but that didn’t stop the Indians from continuing on the tear they started back in August.

All the scoring for Falls occurred late in the second half as both teams struggled to produce on offense in the sloppy conditions.

Torie Gramoll scored the only try of the match, and Lelaina Evans scored on a 35-meter penalty kick to put Falls up 8-0. That would be all the Indians needed to capture a state title.

The Indians dominated Division II play this season, going 8-0 overall. The Indians never trailed at any point of their matches this year, and only one team successfully scored against the girls this season.
