Falls' Simone Lee Earns Spot on National Volleyball Team

Lee joins 11 other players on the youth team that will travel to the Dominican Republic later in June.

Menomonee Falls volleyball star, Simone Lee, earned a spot on the U.S. Girls' Youth Volleyball Team Sunday.

Lee, a sophomore at MFHS, traveled to the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs from May 31 to June 3 to compete against 24 other athletes from around the country for a spot on the national team, according to USAVollyball.com.

Lee was one of 12 players chosen for the team with an additional eight identified as alternates.

Lee and the team will compete at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships from July 24-28 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa. The team will also travel to the Dominican Republic to participate in the NORCECA Girls’ Youth Continental Championships from June 24 to July 2. The tournament serves as a qualifier for the world championships in 2013.

Lee, a 6-foot, 1-inch outside hitter, has verbally committed to play volleyball at Penn State University after graduating in 2014, according to Milwaukee Sting volleyball – her club team.

Lee helped lead the Indians to the team’s eighth conference championship in nine years. However, the team came up short in the WIAA Regional round against Mukwonago. According to WisSports.net, Lee recorded 33 aces and had a hit percentage of .351.
