Falls' Siebert Resigns as Boys Basketball Coach

Siebert cites personal reasons to explain why he stepped down as coach.

Menomonee Falls coach Ben Siebert resigned as head basketball coach Thursday.

MFHS Athletic and Activities Director David Petroff said Siebert met with him Thursday to inform him of his decision to step down as head coach. Petroff said Siebert cited personal reasons as the motivation behind the decision.

Siebert finished with a 47-25 record in his three seasons as coach at Menomonee Falls. That includes a 11-12 record this past season, which included a first-round loss to Waukesha South in the WIAA regional. Siebert teaches math at the high school.

Before coming to Menomonee Falls, Siebert taught and was head basketball coach at Cedarburg High School. He was fired as head coach at Cedarburg in 2004.  No cause was given for the dismissal at the time, but many felt it was parental payback after several Cedarburg players were suspended the previous season for violating team rules.

The Cedarburg School Board said that undue parental influence had nothing with Siebert’s ouster as coach.
