Falls Junior Indians Play at Baseball Mecca

The Under-12 teams are in a huge national youth tournament in Cooperstown, NY.

Two Menomonee Falls Junior Indians baseball teams are playing this week in huge youth baseball tournament in Cooperstown, NY, home of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Burgundy and Gray teams from the Under-12 age group are playing in the American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational Tournaments at Cooperstown Dreams Park.

Cory Mir, coach of the Burgundy team, said Wednesday that Falls teams participate every year. Spread over 23 fields during the entire summer, the tournament welcomes teams from all over.

The Falls Burgundy team has had a great week so far, going 6-0 in pool play and receiving a bye into the round of 32 in the 104-team field during single-elimination play. The Gray team was 3-3 during pool play and was able to bypass the first two rounds. All games are shown via webcast for free.

Mir said the teams also made a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Monday, as tickets to the shrine are part of the tournament entry.
