Falls' Jerry Mislang Earns Service Award

Jerry Mislang, arguably the most recognizable voice in the village, earned a distinguished service award for his contribution to the athletic community in Menomonee Falls.

If you’ve enjoyed a sporting event in Menomonee Falls, than you surely recognize Jerry Mislang’s iconic closing statement to any Indians victory.

“And this game is history,” Mislang always says.

Recently, the man with arguably the most recognizable voice in Menomonee Falls earned some much-deserved recognition. Mislang was one of seven individuals from around the state chosen to receive the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association Distinguished Service Award.

The WADA presents the award annually to individuals that make a big impact on local sports communities through service.

Mislang announces all the home sporting events for the Menomonee Falls High School football, baseball, volleyball, soccer, track, basketball, and softball games. He volunteers much of his time to work lower level sporting events as well.

Mislang has served as the president of the Menomonee Falls Athletic Booster Club, and served as a member of the Capital Improvement Campaign. The campaign raised money for a new track, press box, and entrance at Schumann Stadium. Mislang is an active member of the Falls Optimist Club, he was the Master of Ceremony for the annual scholarship auction, and he acts as the chairman for MFHS post prom.

Mislang has coached 78 different youth basketball, softball and soccer teams.

“Jerry is an invaluable community volunteer who gives freely of his time and talents in support of Menomonee Falls athletics and the school district,” said former Athletic Director Dave Petroff.

Petroff nominated Mislang, and Mislang received his honors Nov. 11 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
