Falls Draws Appleton East in WIAA Playoffs

The Indians have won five straight and have a state title in their sights.

The Menomonee Falls Indians were a Sussex Hamilton win away from securing a share of the Greater Metro Conference title Friday.

Regardless, the Indians (6-1, 6-2 Greater Metro) finished the season in sole possesion of second place after defeating Brookfield Central 14-0 on Homecoming night. The Indians drew a three seed, and will play the sixth-seeded Appleton East Patriots at 7 p.m. Friday at Schumann Stadium.

The Indians season was highlighted by a 24-21 signature win against their archrivals Sussex Hamilton at home Sept. 21. Their season was marked by two tough losses to Oak Creek and the undefeated Greater Metro Conference champion Brookfield East Spartans.

The Appleton East Patriots (4-3, 5-3 Valley North) enter the postseason seeking a little mometum. The team has lost its last two games. The Indians, on the other hand, have won five straight.

The Indians are seeded in Group B with Germantown, Arrowhead, Milwaukee King, Milwaukee Vincent/Destiny, Kimberly, and Milwaukee Monroe/Juneau/Languages.

The Indians play the winner of Kimberly and Milwaukee Monroe/Juneau/Languages if they emerge victorious Friday.
