Are You Ready For Some Falls Football?

Be sure to swing by the pregame corn roast if you're heading to the season opener Friday.

Hank Williams Jr. is hopefully warming up those golden pipes to sing his famous pre-kickoff anthem.

In Menomonee Falls, residents are ready for some football.

The Menomonee Falls Indians will open the season Friday against the Oak Creek Knights. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Schumann Stadium in Menomonee Falls.

Be sure to come to the game hungry, however.  From 5-6:30 p.m. the Booster Club will host its annual corn roast on the football practice field. The cost is $3, and children under 5 years old eat free. Hot dogs, corn, and soda will be served.

Proceeds from the roast will fund athletic equipment. If you plan to attend, bring a few food items to donate to the Menomonee Falls Area Food Pantry. Then, sit back and enjoy some football.

The Indians (5-4, 3-4 Greater Metro) finished fifth in the conference last year. The Knights (4-5, 3-4 Southeast) finished fourth in their conference. On Friday the slate is set clean, however.

According to Steven Tietz of NOW, the quarterback position will be one of interest in the opening game of the season. Falls junior Adam Vechart will fill in for Brett Krause at the position. Krause stepped down to pursue a baseball scholarship, according to NOW.

Ever since Hank Williams Jr. dared speak ill of Messiah Obama, he doesn’t sing the MNF opening theme anymore.
