The Menomonee Falls High School team was third in its division and sixth overall in the wide-ranging academic competition.

Menomonee Falls High School finished third in Division 1 in the state Academic Decathlon last weekend.

Falls scored 37,535.3 points, just behind Bay Port in Division 1. Waukesha West won Division 1 but failed to win the overall title for the first time in 12 years, edged out by New Berlin Eisenhower. The team was sixth overall among four divisions, ranked by school size.

The 30th annual state championships were at Glacier Canyon Conference Center/Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells, according to a news release. Students tested in art, mathematics, music, language and literature, economics, science, social science, interview, essay, and speech. Students also participated in a Super Quiz Relay, in front more than 500 spectators, the release said.
