Falls Schools Receive State Honors

Shady Lane and Valley View elementary schools have been named Schools of Distinction, and Riverside Elementary and North Middle were named Schools of Merit.

Four Menomonee Falls public schools have been honored for their behavior programs by the Wisconsin Response to Intervention (RtI) Center.

Shady Lane and Valley View elementary schools have been named Schools of Distinction, and Riverside Elementary and North Middle were named Schools of Merit.

Eighty-eight schools across the state were recognized as Schools of Distinction, showing for two consecutive years that the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) has had a positive impact on behavior of all students, and that parents and the community were involved with the process.

One hundred forty-nine schools were named Schools of Merit, showing elements of PBIS were implemented, behavioral data was used to improve outcomes for students and self-assessment and planned implementation efforts were made.

Schools recognized as Schools of Merit in either academics or behavior will receive a banner, a letter of congratulations, and recognition at the 2013 Wisconsin PBIS Network Summer Leadership Conference. Those recognized as Schools of Distinction will receive the above rewards in addition to an award certificate and one free registration to the 2013 Wisconsin PBIS Network Summer Leadership Conference, according to the Wisconsin RtI Center.

The Wisconsin RtI Center is a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) funded initiative. The Wisconsin RtI Center is dedicated to ensuring that all students have equal access to supports that will ensure their long-term academic and behavioral success.Β 

Its goal is to assist Wisconsin schools with putting high quality instruction, balanced assessment, and collaboration practices and systems into operation. It provides individuals and organizations with opportunities to share their Response to Intervention (RtI) implementation experiences with others in the field.
