District Honors Students, Employers at Annual Breakfast

District holds 22nd annual Supervised Occupational Experience Breakfast at the Community Center

Many students and their employers were honored Tuesday morning at the annual Supervised Occupational Experience (SOE) Breakfast.

High school students in programs like Second Chance and the apprenticeship program invited their bosses for a breakfast at the .

Two business leaders were honored with the William Pierce Award for working with Menomonee Falls students in the workforce. Tom Steinle, founder of Mancino’s Grinders, and Jennifer Kellen of Actuant’s accounting department received a plaque in Pierce’s name.

Award criteria includes supporting students through instructional or employment opportunities; supporting teachers with curricular or staff development; having partnerships in the district; enhancing students’ knowledge of employability; and supporting students’ knowledge of careers through direct contact.

Steinle has served on the district’s Education for Employment Council, and has been a guest speaker in several classes.

Kellen has been a partner of Menomonee Falls’ SOE program for seven years in which students have the opportunity to learn and practice their accounting knowledge in a professional office.

Pierce dedicated his life to building partnerships that enhance the quality of life in Menomonee Falls.
