ACT Scores Improve Slightly in Menomonee Falls

The 2010-11 composite score marks a three-year trend of improving scores in the district.

The composite ACT score for Menomonee Falls High School seniors remained nearly identical to the score posted by seniors a year prior.

The composite ACT score rose by 0.1 points to 23.1 in 2010-11, according to data released by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Tuesday. The 2010-11 composite score marks a three-year trend of improving ACT scores in the district. In 2008-2009, seniors posted a composite score of 22.5.

A total of 279 students, or 72.1 percent of eligible students, took the ACT test. This marks a 3 percent increase in participation as compared to last year.

The 23.1 score exceeded the state average by 1.1 points. However, Menomonee Falls trailed its two neighboring district by a narrow margin. Germantown High School seniors posted a composite score of 23.4, and Hamilton High School students scored a 23.6.

Across the state, African American students posted a composite score of 16.1, which was four points lower than white students throughout the state. That same trend appeared in Menomonee Falls, and African American students in the district scored a composite score of 19.6, which was 3.9 points lower than white students in the district.
