Village Will Unveil 2013 Budget Wednesday

The first public hearing on the 2013 budget was posted Tuesday, and will take place at Fire Station #3 on Lilly Road.

Village leaders will unveil its 2013 budget proposal to the public for the first time Wednesday.

The Committee of the Whole will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fire Station #3, W140N7501 Lilly Rd. Village Manager Mark Fitzgerald and village staff will present each section of the budget. There will not be a vote taken at the meeting, which was posted on Tuesday.

Last year, the village passed a $25.6 million budget, which was approved unanimously by the Village Board. It cut spending by 0.57 percent compared to 2011, but increased the property tax levy by 0.91 percent to $21.7 million.

The village's tax rate increased 0.4 percent — from $5.17 to $5.19 per $1,000 of assessed value. An owner of a home assessed at $250,000 saw a total increase of $10 in village taxes, including the municipality's solid waste fee.

Stay tuned to Patch Wednesday to see how the proposed 2013 budget stacks up to 2012.

The Village will tell you the Mill rate is down but the number to watch is the budget tax levy and add on taxes = Fees.

You are correct sir, added fees are nothing but increased taxes no matter what line of bull they justify it with. They will spin whatever they do by manipulating the rate, the levy and the fees into another redistribution of cash from your pocket into the governments.
