Village Will Unveil 2013 Budget Wednesday

The first public hearing on the 2013 budget was posted Tuesday, and will take place at Fire Station #3 on Lilly Road.

Village leaders will unveil its 2013 budget proposal to the public for the first time Wednesday.

The Committee of the Whole will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fire Station #3, W140N7501 Lilly Rd. Village Manager Mark Fitzgerald and village staff will present each section of the budget. There will not be a vote taken at the meeting, which was posted on Tuesday.

Last year, the village passed a $25.6 million budget, which was approved unanimously by the Village Board. It cut spending by 0.57 percent compared to 2011, but increased the property tax levy by 0.91 percent to $21.7 million.

The village's tax rate increased 0.4 percent β€” from $5.17 to $5.19 per $1,000 of assessed value. An owner of a home assessed at $250,000 saw a total increase of $10 in village taxes, including the municipality's solid waste fee.Β
