Village, School Board Seats Open in Falls

Three School Board and Village Board seats are opening up in spring. Candidates can circulate nomination papers now.

Just when you thought the elections were over, it's time once again to start thinking about electing the best local leaders in spring.

Three Village Board seats and three School Board seats are up for grabs for the April 2 election. Candidates can circulate nomination papers, and the deadline to file is Jan. 2. If more than two challengers emerge for an open seat, a primary would be held Feb. 19.

Village Board members Michael McDonald, seat four; Jeff Steliga, seat six;  and Steve Raymonds, seat five will all seek to defend their positions on the board in spring. Challengers must pick a specific board member to challenge in spring. Village Board members serve three-year terms and are paid $5,500 annually.

Terms for School Board members Lori Blodorn, Faith VanderHorst, and Scott Ternes will also expire in 2013. Falls School Board members are paid $5,000 annually.

Nomination papers for the Village Board can be picked up at the clerk's office in Village Hall. School Board papers must be picked up in the district offices, which is also in Village Hall.
