Stamp Prices Increase: What to Know for Your Next Trip to the Post Office

Cost of stamps will go up a penny later this month, while the USPS is also rolling out a new stamp for international letters.

The cost of stamps is going up again later this month.

Effective Jan. 27, stamps for first-class letters will go up a penny to 46 cents. Postcards also will see a one-cent increase, to 33 cents.

In addition, the U.S. Postal Service is rolling out a new "Global Forever Stamp," which allows customers to mail letters internationally for one set price of $1.10.

Meanwhile, new pricing for Priority Mail Flat Rate products include:

  • Small box — $5.80
  • Medium box — $12.35
  • Large box — $16.85
  • Large APO/FPO box — $14.85
  • Regular envelope — $5.60
  • Legal envelope — $5.75
  • Padded envelope — $5.95

Holy Scheiss. Paying for those pensions somehow. Remember, this monster loses up to $25 million a day! Wasn't the small box $4.00 when the flat rate boxes came out?
