Soccer Complex Proposal Returns to Plan Commission

Architectural Control Board gives blessing after suggesting a few more changes.

Franklynn Development’s hopes to put an outdoor soccer complex on 10 vacant acres passed through the Architectural Control Board on Monday and head to the Plan Commission today.

The complex would have three fields, with room for a fourth, and parking for 103 cars. It sits south of Lisbon Road and west of Weyer Road.

The parking lot was moved further from Lisbon Road and berms were built in to screen the fields from surrounding residents. The Fire Department also had concerns that were rectified.

“The applicant has made several modifications to address concerns that were brought out at the public hearing,” said Village Planning Technician Matt Dorner.

Panel members approved the plans, with the only condition being that plantings along the berm be grouped and then staggered in a non-linear fashion to create a more natural look.

The Plan Commission meets to discuss Franklynn’s conditional use permit at 6:30 p.m. today in the Upper Conference Room at Village Hall.

In other action on Monday, the Architectural Control Board:

  • Approved a master sign program for the Apple Run commercial development, home to . Any additional signage there must be internally luminated with LED lighting.
  • Approved a master sign program for Falls Crossing and O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, formerly home to Blockbuster Video. The panel required that the building façade be painted, patched and repaired to disguise all previous signage.
  • Approved a outdoor storage lot addition for ERO-TEX Ltd. at N94W14330 Garwin Mace Dr.
  • Approved a façade rehabilitation project for the Wild Rice building at N88W16761 Appleton Ave. After lengthy but cordial discussion panel members placed a number of conditions on the original proposal before giving their blessing.
  • Provided feedback to the developer of a proposed mixed-use project that includes a four-story, , street-level retail and parking.  Menomonee Falls Apartments Block 6 is located along Appleton Avenue. No action was taken.
