Roosevelt Drive Closed Starting Wednesday

Construction of an extension of the former Richfield Way - to be renamed Falls Parkway - will begin Wednesday.

The village will close Roosevelt Drive starting Wednesday to begin construction of Falls Parkway, which is a new road that will extend Richfield Way and connect Pilgrim Road to County Line Road.

Roosevelt Drive will be closed until the project is completed Aug. 30. Traffic will be limited to local drivers during the closure. The construction plans call for modifications of Roosevelt Drive from Charles Drive to Pilgrim Road.

The road construction is part of the infrastructure improvements Falls agreed to in a taxing district, which was created to spur developement on the blighted former Stolper Steel site. The village has paid for the razing of the factory and the remediation of the site, and will also install the roadway. The Village Board on Monday voted to change Richfield Way to Falls Parkway.
