Menomonee Falls Unemployment Rate Up for 4th Straight Month

The village's rate of 6.8 percent is still well below the state's 8.2 figure. But the number, compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, was 4.9 percent back in October.

Menomonee Falls’ estimated unemployment rate in February was 24th of 32 Wisconsin municipalities with at least 25,000 people, according to statistics released Wednesday by the Department of Workforce Development.

The rate of 6.8 percent is up from 6.4 percent in January, which also was the rate in February 2012. Numbers are not seasonally adjusted.

According to a release from the state, this data is compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics based on Unemployment Insurance claims and a monthly survey of 1,450 Wisconsin households (0.06 percent), called the Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS).
