Revisit Patch's real-time coverage of Tuesday's historic recall election in this replay of our Election Night blog.

Wisconsin voters headed to the polls in huge numbers Tuesday to cast their ballots in the state's historic recall election — and keep Gov. Scott Walker in office.

Patch's live blog provided updates from polling places throughout the Milwaukee area and well as reports from the Walker and Tom Barrett campaign parties, and plenty of comments from readers.

Barrett went to hung a upset supporter as a gesture of good will and got slapped in the face as she was upset he conceded when he did. He was slightly stunned and kept his composure. He had to be disappointed as this only added insult and slight injury to his awful night .I feel sorry for him as he just wanted the night to end and than one of his own fruitcakes made him the target of the anger we seen for a year. One final Embarrassment
to end a longggggggggggggggggggg day of defeat!

Anyone see morninmist?
skinnyDUDE June 6, 2012 at 04:01 am
Hari Trivedi still has not conceded . He likely doesn't want too be beat up by a Barrett supporter.
Steve ® June 6, 2012 at 04:05 am
I saw him board a plane back to California. Apparently he was a paid union stand in for the recall process.
Steve ® June 6, 2012 at 04:08 am
In Wisconsin that has got to be coming less and less. But to a larger extent the days of living off the governemnt/taxpayer expense here is over with. At least for a long time.
I can't wait to see the business explosion business owners, like myself, must be thrilled. Back up mining Hell if Gtach is out all it takes is a group of investors.
Steve ® June 6, 2012 at 04:10 am
Thank you Hari Trivedi for being a rich guy who spends his money which supports our economy. The left believes the rich does not contribute to this economy, you have proven them false once again.
Gigi June 6, 2012 at 04:12 am
Way to go Scott!! I am VERY PROUD of my state, the BEST STATE in the UNION! Wisconsin! Now to all you libs out there...
Shut up! You lost we won! Now get your collective heads out of your collective...A**es..suck it up and lets FINALLY get jobs back to the state and move FORWARD! That IS the state motto not just a Scott Walker talking point!

I just got back from the Expo. The crowd was several times what the building could hold. I got to meet almost every local and national politician from the Republican party (quite a few arrived after 9:30).
What I took away from the night was what a normal, humble person Scott is. Before the speech I was thinking how amazing it is that such a normal guy could make such hard decisions. Then he gave his speech, and it was about exactly what I had been thinking about - normal people making hard decisions.
Luke June 6, 2012 at 04:23 am
Did anyone see the video of Barrett getting slapped after his speech? I can't find it.
Annie Nominous June 6, 2012 at 04:35 am
Thanks for the observations...nice to hear/read. You were at a very historic event of a lifetime!
skinnyDUDE June 6, 2012 at 04:39 am
The news showed a distant shot of it . Barrett went for a HUG and his supporter wasn't feeling the LOVE and slapped him in the face . He didn't lose his composure to his credit. She was flagged for ILLEGAL USE OF THE HANDS and backed up into her own goal line.
Luke June 6, 2012 at 04:48 am
Other than Scott's speech, the best part of the night was getting to meet people. There were so many people there that had given evening after evening to making phone calls. Others had gone door to door.
I met a firefighter from Tosa named Shane, who spent days going from door to door for Scott. He told me how he had never been able to meet Scott, but he lives just a block or two away. He put me to shame with his dedication.

Gotta love and respect Trivedi just for trying - and he's a damn nice guy to boot! I certainly hope that this isn't the last that we've heard from him!

If you think convincing one side to vote to take from the other is new you're wrong.Occupy WallStreet wants to take from 'banksters' & give to them instead,This liberal State was turned against the minority who had more benefits than they. No big deal. Watch them vote for Obama.
Steve ® June 6, 2012 at 12:28 pm
So it's the day after, have the liberals all run to Illinois for support and comfort?
Craig June 6, 2012 at 12:32 pm
At midnight a small group was heard tearfully singing, "the sun will come out tomorrow....."
Greg June 6, 2012 at 04:04 pm
"Send in the clowns" didn't work.

Class envy won the day again sheeple. The majority saw the state workers getting benefits that they didn't have. It's no different than OWS.These same people will vote for Obama this fall.
Steve ® June 6, 2012 at 08:17 pm
Thanks for the spam Ashley, have any pictures of yourself?
Fat Lester June 12, 2012 at 01:24 am
Just glad it's finally over and we can pick up a newspaper and read about something else.
T.Gibson June 12, 2012 at 02:57 am
It's not over till I say it's over. Like I told you This is a Blew State. These Democrats were benefit envious and that's what threw the election. They are the 99% and the Teachers Unions are fat and Rich 1%. Stop listening to Rush and Hannity.

First of all, you don't pay taxes. Second, 90% of the proceeds go to huge corporations. Third, it isRead More very disingenuous for you to say that "80% of relief goes to President Obama's definition of middle-class taxpayers." In more appropriate words, that is a flat out LIE.
Craig June 16, 2013 at 09:58 pm
Yes I do pay taxes John. Got some bad weed again John, eh?

I agree with Nuitari (just this one time). I think I like the old version of the Patch MUCH better!
Craig June 10, 2013 at 02:18 pm
I agree too. But WISN likes to run the light version of news, only covering topics they feel weRead More should know about- or fits their agenda.
John Wilson June 14, 2013 at 01:43 pm
I think that the Patch is making a sincere effort to actually get into what Conservatives refer toRead More as “elite journalism.” What Conservatives mean by that is, people who read, write, present facts, and possess the ability to actually analyze written articles, and provide fact-based responses, rather than snarky, juvenile or scatological, religious dogma. Those of you still wearing your loin cloths since birth, and still living in your caves need not participate…
