Hovde Pulls Out Narrow Victory in Menomonee Falls

Hovde won the state's largest village, but couldn't win the state. In the 22nd Assembly District, state Rep. Don Pridemore trounced challenger Nick Oliver.

Although he couldn’t replicate his success around the state, GOP U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde inched out a narrow victory in Menomonee Falls Tuesday.

Hovde posted just a 19-vote victory over former governor – and GOP Senate nominee - Tommy Thompson in the state’s largest village. Hovde receive 2,292 votes to Thompson’s 2,273. Both candidates garnered 31 percent of the vote. Assembly speaker Jeff Fitzgerald and former U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann earned 19 percent and 17 percent of the vote respectively.

Thompson garnered 34 percent of the vote, while Hovde took 31 percent. Neumann and Fitzgerald rounded out the field, collecting 23 percent and 12 percent of the vote respectively. Thompson will challenge U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin in November.

In the race for the Republican nomination in the state’s 22nd Assembly District, Rep. Don Pridemore trounced business owner Nick Oliver in Falls. Pridemore earned 84 percent of the vote to Oliver’s 16 percent.

Overall, 33 percent of registered voters turned out to cast a ballot Tuesday. That equates to a total of 8,077 voters.
