Falls Voters Propel Darling to Late-Night Victory

Darling posted a 2-to-1 victory in the village Tuesday, and all eyes in the 8th Senate District were on these results last night during the election.

Just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday Sen. Alberta Darling announced that she was indeed victorious in what was the state’s most contentious – and – recall election in the 8th Senate District against Rep. Sandy Pasch.

But as the election went deeper into the night, the significance Darling’s victory in the 8th Senate District continued to grow for the Republican Party. Those in attendance at her victory party in Thiensville waited anxiously to get the voting results from the village that everyone was counting on – Menomonee Falls.

And Menomonee Falls lived up to its historic reputation as a Republican community and tilted the scales sealing Darling’s victory, and Republican control of the state Senate. Darling ran away with the village by posting a nearly 2-to-1 victory over Pasch in the district’s largest community.

The victory ensured Republicans maintained at least a 17-16 majority in the Senate, overall on Tuesday to Democrats.
