Fall Leaf Collection Begins Monday

Collection will continue until late November, but residents are reminded that brush and other yard waste will not be collected. Failure to comply could result in a citation.

Village employees will begin emptying those curbs and collecting leaves Monday.

Every year the village removes leaves from the roadways with curb and gutter to prevent clogging the sewer systems. Therefore, residents can simply rake their leaves to the curb and crews will continually collect the leaves. The leave collection period ends in late November.

The village uses a vacuum and mechanical equipment to turn the leaves to speed decomposition. As a result, only leaves will be collected during the program. Residents that include brush or other yard waste in leaf piles will be given 48 hours notice to remove them. Failure to remove yard waste from leaf piles could result in a $109 citation. The village emphasizes this ordinance becuase yard debris can cause the machines to jam and plug up.
