Associated Bank Planning New Main Street Location

Associated Bank has submitted plans to build a new branch location on one of the two empty lots that front the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Pilgrim Road and Main Street.

One of the two vacant plats of land along Main Street near the Walmart Neighborhood Market will be vacant no longer.

Associated Bank submitted plans with the village to construct a new branch on the vacant lot just east of the former Schlotzsky’s Deli location. The project will start the approval process with the village in June, and construction is set to begin as soon as officials give it the green light.

The banke would operate like the other local branches from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The location would include teller stations, banker workstations, a branch office, a 24-hour ATM, and drive-through banking stalls.

According to correspondence from Economic Development Specialist Matt Dorner, parking could be a concern based on intial plan submittals. Associated Bank would need to ensure that a shared parking agreement is forged with Walmart, and the three-bay drive through may need to be reduced to a two-bay setup.

However, those decisions and recomendations would be brought forth during public review and meetings.

The Neighborhood Market shopping center has been a topic of high interest for residents of late. Schlotzsky’s closed its doors for good. Owner Dan Gorman cited costs for renovations, and lower than expected traffic.

The “landmark” corner building also stands constructed, but vacant, on the busy corner of Pilgrim Road and Main Street. However, Patch confirmed last week that potential tenants for both Schlotzsky’s and the “landmark” building have taken out application forms from the village. However, it is unclear what businesses are expressing interest.

The anchor store, Walmart Neighborhood Market, opened in October after developers demolished the former Piggly Wiggly and built the new grocery store.
