Woman Steals Car From EVS, Leaves Her Son's Artwork Inside

Suspect is accused of taking a Volkswagon Jetta in 2010, which eventually ends up in a Milwaukee tow lot for parking citations.

A 35-year-old Milwaukee woman is facing charges after she allegedly took a car from a Menomonee Falls car dealership and left her son’s artwork inside.

Shannon D. Farrow was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and one count of possession of more than $10,000 in stolen property. If convicted, she faces up to 16 years in prison and $35,000 in fines.

In June 2010, Menomonee Falls police were called to Ernie Von Schledorn after a Volkswagon Jetta was found missing from the parking lot.

Two sets of keys for the car were also missing from inside the dealership.

The dealership was contacted in April 2011 after the Milwaukee Police Department was inside a City of Milwaukee tow lot after it had been towed for parking citations. Attached to the car was a license plate registered to Farrow, which expired in 2007.

Officers also found Farrow’s son’s artwork inside the car, which was traced back to an area elementary school. Police contacted a former art teacher who said she remembered the artwork belonging to Farrow’s son because students had their artwork displayed in the Milwaukee Art Museum and extra care was taken with the pieces.

Farrow had worked at the dealership; however, her lawyer told police there was still the possibility she had gotten the car from another person who worked there as well and he needed time to investigate the possibility.

She will make her initial appearance in court June 18.
