A Menomonee Falls woman is facing charges after she was caught allegedly stealing money while working as a teller at an Associated Bank branch.

Jamie L. Miller, 32, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of theft and one count of fraud against a financial institution. If convicted, she faces up to 18 months in prison and $20,000 in fines.

Police were called to Associated Bank, N88W16554 Main St., in December after an internal audit discovered $3,829 was missing from the bank and $200 in loose currency was found inside a desk in the vault room.

After investigating the coin machine, bank officials discovered it was short the $3,829. Miller was the person who operated the machine and said she must have forgotten to note she sold a bag of coins.

However, the audit showed no bag of coins was ever at the bank.

After watching surveillance tapes, officials also discovered Miller placing something inside the drawer where the $200 was later found and she was terminated.

Police were contacted again in January after the bank discovered more discrepancies made by Miller.

She will make her initial appearance in court April 16.
