Waukesha Woman Charged With Giving Fake Name to Falls Cops
Suspect's real identity was discovered when a man she was picking up from the police department said her real name to someone on the phone.
A 41-year-old Waukesha woman is facing charges after police discovered she had used a fake name when she came to pick up someone from the Menomonee Falls Police Department who had been arrested earlier in the day while a passenger in her car.
According to the criminal complaint, on Dec. 28 Sharla A. Cephus was pulled over in Menomonee Falls for license and registration issues and it was discovered during the stop her passenger had outstanding warrants. Cephus, who told officers her name was Claire Elliott, told officers she would pick up the passenger later once the warrant issues were cleared up.
While Cephus was on her way to pick up the man later, the complaint states an officer overheard him say “Sharla” was coming to pick him. Cephus admitted to giving the fake name because she had a revoked license.

Cephus was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with one count of obstructing an officer and one count of possession of illegally obtained prescription drugs. If convicted, she could face up to 15 months in prison and $10,500 in fines.
Officers then discovered she had prescription pills on her which she didn’t have a prescription for.
