Two Accused of Stealing 2,000 Pounds of Stainless Steel from Alto-Shaam

Suspect tells police they simply tossed away the stolen metal becuase they deemed it worthless after the deed.

Two Milwaukee men are facing charges after they allegedly stole 2,000 pounds of stainless steel from a Menomonee Falls business.

Warren H. Dotstry, 38, and Trenel H. Gibson, 37, were charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of theft. If convicted, they each face up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.

On April 16, Menomonee Falls police officers were called to Alto-Shaam, after an employee noticed someone had taken 2,000 pounds of stainless steel scrap metal from the facility. The employee saw someone had cut a chain and lock off of a fence gate and taken the steel.

Surveillance video showed two men-later identified as Dotstry and Gibson-taking the metal and putting it into a Chevrolet Astro Van, which as traced back to other similar thefts in New Berlin.

Gibson told police officers he took the metal with another man, but threw it away after he realized it was worthless.

Both men are currently out of custody and warrants have been issued for their arrest.
