Suspects Steal Golf Cart, Drive It Off A Bridge

A suspect or group of suspects stole a golf cart from Silver Spring Country Club and went on a destructive joy ride.

A suspect or group of suspects decided to break the law to go on a joyride that never exceeded 20 mph. They decided to steal a golf cart from last week.

The suspects broke into the country club between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday and stole a golf cart by breaking the cable that was used to secure the carts. The suspects then drove around the golf course and broke the roof of the cart off after tipping it into a bunker.

However, they were set on giving the cart the coup de grâce.

They drove the cart over a metal fence near Lannon Road, and officers found the cart later under a rail bridge near Waueksha Avenue south of Linda Avenue. It appeared the cart was driven off the bridge as evidenced by the damage to the golf cart.  The cart was deemed a complete loss due to the extent of the damage.

Although it’s rare, this isn’t the first time a golf cart has been the tool of destruction for vandals in the village. Last year, commandeered a golf cart and rampaged through the facility causing extensive damage.
